Asyst Technologies Extends Its Asian Service Capability
With New Repair Facility In Singapore

FREMONT, Calif., June 28, 2004 – Asyst Technologies,
Inc. (Nasdaq: ASYT), a leading provider of integrated automation
solutions that enhance semiconductor and flat panel display manufacturing
productivity, announced today that it is extending its industry-leading
service capabilities in Asia through the establishment of a new
repair center in Singapore. With the manufacturing of many of its
spare parts already in Singapore, and much of the company’s
supply chain in the Asia-Pacific region, Asyst believes its new
repair center will help to reduce cycle times for many repair activities
on behalf of customers while allowing customers throughout Asia
to reduce shipping costs related to repairs.
“With nearly 50% of our installed base already here and an
increasing proportion of new chip manufacturing capacity moving
to the Asia-Pacific region, Asyst is continuing to invest in its
customer support capabilities in this vital part of the world,”
said Aaron Stolpman, general manager of Asyst’s services division.
“We already have moved the manufacturing of most of our factory
interface and wafer handling products to Singapore. We currently
have nine sales and support centers spanning the countries of China,
Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan. Deploying this repair
center in Singapore is the next step in our ongoing initiatives
not only to remain the leading automation supplier in Asia, but
also to improve our ability to provide the most responsive, most
knowledgeable, and most efficient customer support in the semiconductor
manufacturing automation industry.”
