Press Release

Inotera Memories Selects Asyst's SpartanŽ Sorter

FREMONT, Calif., April 3, 2007 -- Asyst Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASYT), a leading provider of integrated automation solutions that enhance semiconductor and flat panel display manufacturing productivity, announced today that it has received a multi-million-dollar order for its Spartan Sorter from Inotera Memories Inc., a joint venture of Qimonda AG and Nanya Technology Corporation. The Spartan will be installed in Inotera's new Fab 2 in Taoyuan, Taiwan.

A spokesperson for Inotera said, “We chose Asyst’s Spartan Sorter for Phase 1 of our new fab because of its high throughput, cleanliness and reliability. Based on the high performance it delivered we purchased it again for Phase 2. As we approach total semiconductor wafer fab capacity of 120,000 wafer starts per month, we are confident the Spartan Sorter’s performance will allow us to keep pace with our aggressive production goals.”

“The Spartan platform is becoming an industry standard and we are delighted that Inotera has adopted the Spartan for its production requirements,” said Paula LuPriore, senior vice president of Asyst’s Automation Solutions Group. “In the past two and a half years of production, we have seen increasing market share with over 200 Spartan Sorters shipped.”

The Spartan Sorter provides advanced 300mm wafer handling technology with better than ISO Class 1 particle performance, high reliability and throughput, low cost-of-ownership and integrated NexEDAT software that provides an advanced host connectivity solution enabling advanced fab productivity applications through real-time data collection. The Spartan Sorter is available in multiple configurations for a variety of wafer handling needs.
