Press Release

Asyst Extends Tool Connectivity To Support 64-bit Architecture

FREMONT, Calif., January 28, 2008 -- Asyst Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASYT), a leading supplier of integrated automation solutions that enhance semiconductor and flat panel display manufacturing productivity, today announced the availability of its industry leading SECS/GEM tool connectivity products for 64-bit computing architectures.

Driven by the increasing industry demand for tools that provide greater throughput and access to real-time data, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) are implementing 64-bit operating systems on their new or enhanced tool platforms. In addition, OEMs are moving to 64-bit architectures to capture the related increases in computing power, scaling, and usable memory as compared with 32-bit computing architectures.

Jim Holliday, vice president, product marketing and business development for Asyst’s connectivity solutions group, said, “As the leading supplier of equipment connectivity and data management software for 200mm and 300mm semiconductor manufacturing tools, Asyst has dramatically expanded its software product portfolio to address this industry shift and the needs of customers by ensuring that our SECS/GEM software products are fully compatible with 32 bit and 64-bit architectures.”
